The Amnesty International India has stopped its operations within the nation, after the federal government of India froze the financial institution accounts of the organisation on September 10, for allegedly breaking guidelines on overseas funding legal guidelines. The group has laid off greater than 100 workers members and ceased its human rights campaigns and analysis work in India.

As per the Government of India, Amnesty International has been receiving overseas funds, which the federal government has prohibited underneath the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) 2010.
