The Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal has launched the “Mukhyamantrir Grammya Paribahan Achoni Yojana” of the state transport division. Under the scheme, Light Motor Vehicle Service could be launched in all of the villages of the state to enhance rural connectivity and generate employment within the villages. One automobile could be offered to 1 beneficiary per village.

In the primary part of the scheme, 10,000 villages could be coated with a monetary outlay of Rs 100 crore. The state authorities shall financially help the eligible entrepreneurs with 25 per cent of the price of the automobile or Rs 1 lakh, whichever is much less.
