Cabinet approves Rs. 5718 crore World Bank-supported STARS venture

Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has accredited the implementation of the Strengthening Teaching-Learning and Results for States (STARS) venture. STARS is a brand new Centrally Sponsored Scheme below the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education for bettering the standard of training, within the Indian School Education System.

The complete venture value is Rs 5718 crore with the monetary help of World Bank amounting to the USD 500 million (roughly Rs. 3700 crores). The venture will cowl 6 states specifically Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala and Odisha.


Under the STARS Project:

  • The venture envisages bettering the general monitoring and measurement actions within the Indian School Education System by supporting the chosen states in creating, implementing, evaluating and bettering interventions with direct linkages to improved training outcomes and faculty to work transition methods for improved labour market outcomes
  • The total focus and parts of the STARS venture are aligned with the targets of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 of Quality-Based Learning Outcomes.
