Indian-built Sittwe port in Myanmar to be operational in 2021


India and Myanmar are working in direction of the operationalization of the Sittwe port within the Rakhine state of Myanmar within the first quarter of 2021. The port is a part of the Kaladan multi-modal transit transport mission which is being seen as India’s gateway to Southeast Asia.

About Sittwe Port

Sittwe Port is a deepwater port constructed by India in 2016 at Sittwe, the capital of Rakhine State in Myanmar, on the Bay of Bengal. The port will join India’s landlocked northeastern area with the Bay of Bengal by way of Mizoram.
