International Day of Rural Women: 15 October


The International Day of Rural Women is noticed globally on 15 October annually. The day acknowledges the essential function of ladies and women in guaranteeing the sustainability of rural households and communities, enhancing rural livelihoods and total well-being. In India, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare observes the day because the Rashtriya Mahila Kisan Diwas since 2016, to extend the energetic participation of ladies in agriculture.

The theme for this International Day of Rural Women is “Building rural women’s resilience in the wake of COVID-19,” to create consciousness of those ladies’s struggles, their wants, and their essential and key function in our society.

History:

The United Nations General Assembly established the day on 18 December 2007 and was noticed for the primary time in 2008.
