The Union Minister of State for Shipping (I/C), Mansukh Mandaviya has inaugurated the ‘Direct Port Entry (DPE) facility’ of V.O. Chidambaranar Port Trust in Tamil Nadu. This will assist in rising Ease of Doing Business for the exporters, as the power will carry effectivity and scale back dwell time, decrease tariff value and enhance the competitiveness of shipper within the worldwide commerce.

About ‘Direct Port Entry (DPE) facility’:
- The state-of-the-art Direct Port Entry (DPE) facility would allow direct motion of containers from factories, with out intermediate dealing with at any Container Freight Station (CFS), thus facilitating the shippers to Gate-In their manufacturing unit stuffed exports on to the Container Terminal on 24×7 foundation.
- The facility is created in an space of 18,357 sqm contained in the Truck Parking Terminal which was developed below the ‘Sagarmala’ for issuing customs clearance of export cargo i.e. Factory stuffed/re-sealed containers.
