NITI Aayog panel for reforms in city planning training


NITI Aayog has constituted a 14-member advisory committee to look into introducing reforms within the city planning training system. The panel will likely be headed by NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Rajiv Kumar. The members of the committee embody Amitabh Kant, CEO of NITI Aayog and secretaries of Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs(MoHUA), Ministry of Education(MoE) and Ministry of Panchayati Raj.

Role of the Committee:

  • The committee will study the present system when it comes to multidisciplinarity, curriculum and different associated points on the degree of graduates and postgraduates towards the challenges of fast urbanization.
  • The committee will study the city planning training system in India and study the provision, demand and provide of the certified city planners in India.
