The International Mountain Day is noticed globally on December 11 yearly. The day is well known to create consciousness in regards to the significance of mountains to life, to focus on the alternatives and constraints in mountain improvement and to construct alliances that may deliver constructive change to mountain peoples and environments all over the world.

History of the day:
The day was established by the UN General Assembly in 2003 to encourage sustainable improvement of mountains. United Nations had declared 2002 because the UN International Year of Mountains.
