The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) carried out profitable maiden launch of Akash-NG (New Generation) Missile from Integrated Test Range off the coast of Odisha. Akash-NG is a brand new technology Surface-to-Air Missile to be used by Indian Air Force (IAF) with an goal of intercepting excessive manoeuvring aerial threats. The launch met all of the check aims by performing excessive maneuvers throughout the trajectory.

The efficiency of the Command and Control system, onboard avionics and aerodynamic configuration of the missile was efficiently validated throughout the trial. The Multi Function Radar was examined for its functionality of integration with the system. The Akash-NG system has been developed with higher deployability in comparison with different comparable methods with canisterized launcher and far smaller floor system footprint.
