Papua New Guinea’s first Prime Minister, Michael Somare, passes away

The first prime minister of Papua New Guinea, Michael Somare has handed away. He was referred to as the “father of the nation” as a result of he led the Pacific archipelago to independence from Australia in 1975. He had served because the prime minister of the nation 4 occasions, between 1975 to 2011, and has been the longest-serving prime minister (17 years).
