73rd Martyrs’ Day noticed on 30 January
Martyr’s Day or Shaheed Diwas is noticed yearly on January 30 within the reminiscence of Mahatma Gandhi, who was assassinated at Gandhi Smriti within the Birla House by Nathuram Godse in 1948. The day is noticed to recollect the sacrifices made by freedom fighters within the battle for India’s independence and to pay our respects to them.

About Mahatma Gandhi:
- Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, popularly referred to as Mahatma Gandhi or Bapu.
- Mahatma Gandhi, considered Father of the Nation, was the torch-bearer of India’s battle for freedom and was revered by everybody for his non-violent strategy towards the British Raj.
- Despite his peaceable strategies, Bapu was shot at Birla House compound in New Delhi on the age of 78. He was assassinated by Nathuram Godse, who opposed Gandhi’s views on the partition of India.
