fifth Joint Meeting of the India-Japan Act East Forum



The fifth joint assembly of the India-Japan Act East Forum (AEF) was held in New Delhi. The assembly was co-chaired by Foreign Secretary Shri Harsh Vardhan Shringla, and Suzuki Satoshi, Ambassador of Japan to India.

During the fifth assembly, the AEF reviewed the progress of ongoing initiatives within the North Eastern Region of India in varied areas together with connectivity, hydropower, sustainable growth, harnessing of water assets, and ability growth. They additionally exchanged views on cooperation in new areas resembling healthcare, agro-industries and SMEs, bamboo worth chain growth, good metropolis, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.

History of India-Japan Act East Forum: 

The AEF was established in 2017 to offer a platform for India-Japan collaboration within the North Eastern Region beneath India’s “Act East Policy” and Japan’s imaginative and prescient for a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific”.
